Unable to log a frozen RDP session off from broker or host server.

Hello,

We've got a problem which intermittently affects random users (3 so far).

We've got 4 Terminal Server Hosts, all server 2008 r2, and a broker server, also 2008 r2.

Sometimes, when a user tries to log on, they see the Welcome screen but then just get a blue wallpaper and nothing else, they can't right click or run task manager.

From the broker or the server itself, it shows the user's connected but you can't log them off, or reset them.
You are able to remote control them and send messages, but that doesn't gain anything.
You are also able to disconnect them, but that doesn't prove of any use either, if they try to log back on, it reconnects the 'frozen' session.

I've tried the command line 'reset' and 'logoff' tools but they prove ineffective, as do the Remote Desktop Services Manager and Task Manager.

There are no event logs or error messages, there are no running processes for the user according to the Task Manager. This has occurred 3 times on different servers and users.

The only way to resolve this currently is to restart the server, but there's some 10+ users on there most of the time.

Any ideas on how to force the sessions off without restarting the server? Thanks in advance.
