I am trying to access a win2008 machine via remote desktop on a LAN connection. The machine is running th x64 2008, on a dual CPU dual core 2.2GHz opteron, and has 16GB of RAM.
The remote desktop is really slow, as it takes about 2 to 3 minutes to draw the "Sever Manager" window that comes up first. The start menu takes about 30 seconds to draw.
I can remote desktop FROM the win2008 machine with no problems, and it runs fine, so I don't think it is a network issue.
It is slow with a RDP6 (vista) and and RDP5 (win2003) client, it also doesn't matter what options are turned off or on. I tried the suggestion of turning off the TCP autotuning, with this command, on both the server, and on the Vista client.
netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
Any suggestions on this issue?
